Introduction

Launching a mobile game that crosses 5,000 downloads on the Google Play Store was both a technical challenge and a proud milestone. When designing MovieMind, the objective was simple: build a lightning-fast, visually captivating movie trivia experience with immediate responsiveness and seamless ad monetization.

Architecture Overview

The system is split into two primary layers:

  • Client Layer: React Native with optimized native components for smooth 60fps quiz interactions, sound effects, and local state management.
  • Backend Layer: Java Spring Boot microservice running on AWS, managing question banks, score verification, and daily challenges.

Monetization with Google AdMob

Integrating Google AdMob required careful lifecycle management so ads never disrupted the gaming flow. Implementing rewarded video ads for extra hints gave players value while generating steady revenue.

Key Takeaways

Keep your payload footprints small, cache static trivia sets on the device, and monitor network failures gracefully.
